Pesticide Environmental Stewardship

The Pesticide Environmental Stewardship (PES) Website is sponsored by the Center for Integrated Pest Management. PES provides convenient access to information on proper pesticide handling. All subject matter contained on this site has been reviewed and posted by Pesticide Safety Education Program Coordinators and Specialists from the Cooperative Extension Service. This website is intended for a national audience with links to state-specific information, where available. Crop producers, pesticide dealers, commercial/professional applicators, and the general public will benefit from the information presented in each topic, or module.

Worker Protection Standards – EPA

“EPA’s Agricultural Worker Protection Standard (WPS) aims to reduce pesticide poisonings and injuries among agricultural workers and pesticide handlers. The WPS offers occupational protections to over 2 million agricultural workers and pesticide handlers who work at over 600,000 agricultural establishments. EPA revised the WPS to decrease pesticide exposure incidents among farmworkers and their family members…

All requirements of the revised WPS are now in effect. Pesticide safety training materials with the expanded content required by the 2015 WPS must be used to train workers and handlers.”

Community Action of Skagit County: Latinx Advisory Committee

“The Latinx Advisory Committee (LAC) is a subcommittee of the Community Action Board of Directors, charged with advising the agency on how to better serve and develop leadership among low-income Latina/o community members.

The LAC network includes 150+ representatives of 20+ nonprofits, businesses, educational institutions, and individual community members who serve the Latino community in Skagit and Whatcom counties. The LAC democratically elects a representative to the Community Action Board of Directors, who serves in a Client Sector position.”
