Western Region Agricultural
Stress Assistance Program (WRASAP)

UpRoot Colorado

We are currently piloting a pilot project in coordination with Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU) — the farm and food mobile workforce — that provides on-demand and supplemental labor to Colorado producers along the northern Front Range, in Delta County and in southwestern Colorado (i.e., in La Plata and Montezuma counties via the Good Food Collective).

WSDA Office of Compliance and Outreach

The WA legislature eliminated funding for the Small Farm & Direct Marketing Program at the Washington State Dept. of Agriculture as of June 30, 2011. The knowledgeable staff from that program have been retained within the agency, now serving as Education & Outreach Specialists for the Office of Compliance and Outreach in the Food Safety and Consumer Services Division. We continue to strive to assist farmers and food processors with regulatory issues as well as education around food safety and compliance. Thanks to federal grant funding we are also active in Farm to School and Value-added Processing workshops. www.agr.wa.gov;

Alaska Seeds of Change

Our hydroponic warehouse, growing primarily herbs and lettuce, serves as the main setting for our vocational training, mental health services, and basic needs support youth programs. We accept calls and questions about our program model, offer up to 1-hour of basic hydroponics consultation (we use Zip Grow vertical grow towers) over zoom, and can help connect Alaskans to mental health services provided by our parent organization Alaska Behavioral Health.

UC Small Farm Program

The University of California Small Farm Program focuses on the challenges and opportunities of California’s small-scale farm operators. We develop field and marketing research aimed at the needs of small- and moderate-scale farmers, and provide that information to farmers who are often not reached by traditional extension programs. We are a statewide program and were created in 1979 by an act of the California legislature. Online resources for farmers: http://sfp.ucdavis.edu/. Please see http://sfp.ucdavis.edu/overview/coopextcontacts/ for contact info for UC Extension small farm contacts in each California county office.
