“The National Farm Medicine Center (NFMC) was established in 1981 in response to occupational health problems seen in farm patients coming to Marshfield Clinic. The center continues to focus its research and outreach on rural populations. Current Farm Medicine priorities include preventing youth injuries and fatalities, injury surveillance, community outreach and education, farm microbiome and human immunology, and evaluation research. Farm Medicine scientists and staff address these issues with special expertise in injury prevention, public health, bioinformatics, nursing, sociology, anthropology, education and communications.”

Worker Protection Standards – EPA
“EPA’s Agricultural Worker Protection Standard (WPS) aims to reduce pesticide poisonings and injuries among agricultural workers and pesticide handlers. The WPS offers occupational protections to over 2 million agricultural workers and pesticide handlers who work at over 600,000 agricultural establishments. EPA revised the WPS to decrease pesticide exposure incidents among farmworkers and their family members…
All requirements of the revised WPS are now in effect. Pesticide safety training materials with the expanded content required by the 2015 WPS must be used to train workers and handlers.”
